Lead-contaminated tap water in Flint, Michigan, is threatening the health of thousands of city residents, many of them in low-income neighborhoods and communities of color. But public officials have turned a blind eye to the crisis, insisting that the city's toxic water is safe — and families are being charged exorbitant rates for the very water that is making many of them sick.
